Renee P1030887_edited_edited.jpg

Renée Camus began English country dancing at Pinewoods at age eight and has pursued it ever since. She holds a master’s degree in dance history and founded Centuries Historical Dance, a company devoted to historical social dance. She also produced Dancing through the Centuries: Dawn of a New World as writer, director, narrator, choreographer, and dancer.

Renée has taught tap, Irish step dancing, ballroom, and English country dance throughout the Washington, DC area and at dance camps nationwide, including Pinewoods, Hey Days, Berea, Cumberland, Terpsichore’s Holiday, Flying Cloud Academy’s Vintage Dance Week, and Newport Vintage Dance Week. Now based in Los Angeles, she calls for Culver City ECD, Monrovia ECD, and the Historical Tea & Dance Society.

Since 2018, she has written over a dozen English country dances, available on her website. Her dance As You Were won first place in the 2022 May Heydays dance-writing competition, and Wink appeared in the Spring 2024 CDSS Newsletter. She is currently collaborating with Shira Kammen, Audrey Jaber, and Chip Prince on Choreograffiti, a book and CD of her dances to be released in 2026.
